Time Management From The Perspective Of The Proverbs 31 Businesswoman
Before looking at these tips, let’s consider the businesswoman in Proverbs 31. When we do things God’s way, like she does, we can be sure we have it right.
Following the example of the world is rarely the best thing to do. This woman knew how to be wise and please God.
- She was not a procrastinator
- She got her finances from more than one source and managed them well.
- Those she came into contact with respected her.
- Her family was proud of her achievements
- She was not selfish but looked out for others.
- She always did her best
- She feared God
After using her as our example, we can now explore the 10 time management tips mentioned earlier.
1. Start Your Day With God
If you want to avoid unnecessary stress, begin your day with God. You can read a devotional, study the Bible, worship, or whatever works best for you.
Doing this allows us to get our instructions from God and not ourselves throughout the day.
As mothers with many hats to wear, having clear direction makes it easier. It helps us to take care of the family and our business well.
This verse in 1 Corinthians 10:31 shows that our creator must be a part of whatever we do. This then takes a great load off our shoulders.
2. Prioritize Your Schedule With A Planner
It is always best to have your schedule set out. Put the most important things first. At times, there might be a need for changes. However, knowing what you want to achieve daily brings about better results.
If you prefer another method to get things done, do it. Whatever makes life easier for you is what matters. For example, you might want the old way of writing in a diary or use an app online.
Knowing the amount of time you have available for any particular day is also a must.
3. Keep Healthy As A Christian Mompreneur
To keep healthy, make sure you are getting enough rest.
Please do not forget to exercise.
Turn off the computer a few hours before going to bed. This can be great for your eyes, which are looking at business devices all day.
Keep in mind that an unhealthy body cannot perform as it should. For this reason, you and your family must eat nutritious meals daily.

4. Do Not Be Lazy
Procrastination must never be a trait of a mother or a businesswoman. I know that it can easily creep into our lives at times.
The book of Proverbs is loaded with verses on not being lazy. Here are a few
Proverbs 13:4 The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.
Proverbs 18:9 He who is slothful in his work is a brother to him who is a great destroyer.
Proverbs 20:4 The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing.
Proverbs 21:5 The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.
Proverbs 26:15 The lazy man buries his hand in the bowl: It wearies him to bring it back to his mouth.
Proverbs 6:6-8 Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, 7 Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, 8 Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest.
5. Be Productive When It Comes To Time Management
Have you ever been in a situation where you know you have lots of stuff planned, but it seems you are getting nowhere? This can cause anxiety, which can be a killer if not managed well. God tells us not to be like this. If we do, then it is a sin.
When it comes to being productive, this is not how the Holy Spirit wants to lead us.
This might include taking the children to events or working on your business. At these times, I know from experience it can be very trying for us as women.
6. Put Away Distractions
Everyone’s distractions can be different. You might find yourself checking email on the phone or cooking, which you do not need to do at that particular time.
Putting these things away will help get the most important things done first. This will bring about great results in our business and parenting at home.
7. Live A Balanced Life As You Manage Your Time
Having our family as part of our schedule comes with living a balanced life. We often have so much going on with our kids. We have to work around their schedule.
Having aging parents can also involve managing our time wisely.
With so many people to assist, try doing tasks one at a time. By doing this, more things will be completed.
The advantage of being a businesswoman is that we do not have to go to a boss and ask for time to do them. With this one less thing to worry about, we should have our schedule set out to make it easier on ourselves.
8. Do Not Forget Time With Your Husband
Kids and other family members are important, but always make time for your husband. Not doing this could easily lead to marital problems.
Please do not forget the special dates, casual walks, or even relaxing alone at home. Always have him as an important part of your schedule.
If we are honest, this can often become the last item on our list of things to do. Let us make a change today with God’s help
9. Try To Avoid Multitasking
If you are like me, multitasking is part of my life. However, it can control us if we are not careful. I guess as women, we have this gift :). But is this the best way to manage our time? This type of behavior leaves many tasks unfinished.
We can follow our planner since they are already set out. Do each item individually and avoid multitasking.
10. Ask For Help When It Is Needed
Lastly, we all need help at some time. “No man is an island,” they say. I know that goes for women too, :). For this reason, asking others who can take some of our load off is great.
At times, your children might be able to assist. You might even have other family members or friends. Check out those people who can make your time management lighter, and ask for help.
Conclusion
You have seen from these ten tips that effective time management can be achieved with practice.
God wants us to enjoy our lives and live a life controlled by Him. Following them can make our lives so much easier.
It might mean avoiding distractions, having more time for our families, being productive, or putting God first. Managing your time well is a must if you want to be a great mompreneur.
